Summer Living by Lucy

Summer is coming .. and everyone is hoping for the same long spells of glorious weather which we enjoyed in the UK last year. It’s time to make our homes and gardens ready for sunny days, long evenings outdoors, eating al fresco and chilling in the garden.
At Curve we are all about natural fabrics and relaxed vibes this summer .. we love combining soft neutrals with sea greens and blues or warmer yellow and orange palettes. Patterns inspired by nature look great outside as well as contrasting geometric designs.
Whatever the size of your outdoor space you can create a summer oasis with simple furniture and soft furnishings. We are often asked by clients to furnish outdoor living areas with seating and dining solutions, custom made cushions and sun shades with some gorgeous water and fade proof fabrics to choose from.
2019 saw the launch of the new outdoor collection ‘Poppies’ from Missoni Home .. a fabulous brand which can instantly add interest to a space with striking patterns including these newer florals as well as the classic chevron designs, all are available from Curve.
Indoor / outdoor rugs are a great idea for the summer, either to define a dining space or to lounge around on. One of our favourite suppliers Asiatic has launched a fantastic new catalogue and some amazing new outdoor rugs, mix these up with a few bean bags on the lawn for an informal feel.
As the sun goes down solar powered lights create atmosphere and string lights can be hung around fences, over tables or from trees while solar lanterns are great for later evening entertaining.
A fire in the garden can add real warmth on a summer evening and allow you to sit out outside after dark and create a cosy feeling, a chiminea or fire pit is the perfect focal point, have some snug but inexpensive blankets to hand and don’t forget the marshmallows!
